O'60's 2nd XI emphatic FINALS triumph over Sussex by 66 runs in 'Vase' competition

Put into bat, Devon posted 166 for 6 off their alloted 45 overs, Sheps (29) and Stanton (32) putting on an opening partnership of 54 runs, then Andy Rose (71 n.o.)  made a match winning contribution adding another 49 runs with Stanton & pushing the score along to 166 for 6 at tea. Extras played a large part of Sussex reply (24)  before Pyle, Price, Harding, Amery & Harris got to work, and at 66 for 5, then 74 for 7 the writing was on the wall, only for Pyle to return and take two wickets on the bounce, and up for a hatrick at the start of next season, reducing the Sussex side to 99 all out.
